1. The stock is about 150mm too long.
2. The foregrip is square in section (what's wrong with rounded) and too far forward due partly to (1) above.
3. You need double length fingers or another hand to operate the magazine release catch.
4. The end of the stock, where it's braced in the shoulder, is much lower than the barrel, thus exacerbating the recoil, muzzle climb problem (although granted this is less of an issue with the airsoft version).

Just my opinion of course, can you tell I'm not a Thompson fan?

The stock on the marui thompson is actually slightly longer than a real one to fit the battery, thats why its a pig to shoulder quickly.

Well, that's because it's a sub-machine gun not a rifle.

I'm pretty well proportioned (read long arms) meaning I've never had a problem. I rarely use the foregrip and tend to hold it around the magazine/receiver area and I've always been able to release the mag catch with my thumb whilst holding the mag.

To be fair few wwii smgs were ergonomic, it was relativity new field with a steep learning curve.

Lots of blind alleys in design and lots of 'revisions' that made little sense.

(mkv stens have wooden stocks and foregrips as 'improvements' but all they actually do is seriously increase the weight. german sten copies have vertical mags defeating the one advantage the weapon had, the german mp41 turns a perfectly brilliant mp40 into and unwieldy heavy beast.... etc etc)

Same here Steve.

BTW... The Stens are pretty ergonomic... you just have to be careful where you put your hands so as not to lose fingers!

Just to say, even thought the concept of th SMG was really put into full swing in WW2, the MP38 and 40 are pretty much works of practical art, and nearly every detail on it serves a purpose, from the spring in the front sight to the wobble in the skeletal stock...

as you can tell i love the MP40 :)

Yeh. I agree. I've never had a problem with the Thompson, doesn't look too big on me at all. Certainly not disproportionate to my size; but I am 6"1 with big shoulders. I think it's a good shape and very comfortable to fire/carry.

your sergeants stripes might not look right once your actually at a game. I don't know about everyone else but I don't rank my uniforms.
Just my opinion, only constructive criticism.

On my 101 airborne load out i have sargent stripes does that mean if i was to attend a game you would prefer me to take them off it's not a problem of course i was just wondering?
Also any help trying to source a m1943 entrenching tool which is not insanely expensive would be appreciated thanks

No don't worry about your stripes. Just don't expect to command any NCO status! ;)

You can pick up e-tools at militaria fairs. Malvern is this weekend: http://www.militaryconvention.co.uk

To be honest, they're just a bit of dressing. I've only used mine a couple of times to dig a foxhole the night before a game.

You don't want to be wearing shorts in the jungle anyway!... A very bad idea.
